As an 'ADHD' sufferer, my life has been influenced by popular culture. The emergence of a partly 'terrier' culture or golden phrases in popular culture narrows the scope of public discussion to a certain extent, people seek golden phrases and emotions, abandon diversity of expression and exuberance of individuality, and gradually turn complex issues into simple confrontations, which are unconsciously influenced by the shape of matter and fragment my thought activity. Entertainment culture and social media somehow fascinate, worship and frighten me. So I deliberately create relics of memory as ADHD to correspond to the new things that contemporary people are creating (e.g. buzzwords, emojis) but due to the inescapable extinction of time, they become new relics and we embrace pop culture and consume it in order to feel safe, which becomes a landscape.
This project is placed in the context of the future of cyberarchaeology and in terms of form I have inherited elements of modern archaeology, using clay and ceramics as the main materials. The archaeological context of the project is set in the year 2022, i.e. I have faked a landscape of remains that may be archaeological 2022 hundreds of years in the future. The placement and interaction of the project continues my personal experience from my childhood, when any of the charms are removed and placed close to the box, a neuronal scene of different states of 'ADHD' will appear on the television, one label corresponding to a ceramic. The ceramics are based on an ADHD brain created by intentional manipulation simulation. The different neuronal scenes represent different states of reception and can be found explained in detail in the book on the box. The runes are a combination of references to traditional Chinese Taoism and neuronal structures. The meaning of these charms is stabilising, calming, & relaxing.
The reason for using Taoist charms is that when I had ADHD as a child, my mother did not see it as a disease, she thought I was affected by a ghost or some kind of evil spirit, so she took me to a teacher and drew charms on my forehead. The process of hanging the talisman above the ceramics of the brain was formally a puja and served to suppress the evil spirits and inhale them, and we took the charm down for a scan, similar to recreating the appearance of the evil spirits.
As I said above, ceramics is based on an intentional approach to simulate the creation of an ADHD brain. I used myself as an experiment during the time I was working on the ceramics, forcing myself to look at specific pop culture that made me uncomfortable every day and record my state at the time, and then conceive of what my brain would probably look like at the moment. I had this idea because of the cause of my ADHD and I felt that in my mind my own brain was not exactly the same as in the medical books and could be strange and grotesque. The reason for the final output of eleven ceramics has no specific meaning, but rather the quantity that I tried my best to be able to accomplish in that time with quality assurance. So the ceramics are hand-kneaded, then fired, followed by glazing and firing again. The ceramic part of the production took a month in total.
One neuronal scene corresponds to one ceramic.
Each scene has a different meaning and representation behind it.
the scenes are created using the results of the garbage landscape, which uses real-life trash as virtual materials, see the <Deadee of Creator> for more information.
the visual presentation in this project is a convergence and diffusion of particles, because in ADHD's brain the images change and are conceived very quickly but vaguely, and I wanted to make a plausible effect. It is important to mention that all eleven visuals share the same neuronal infrastructure, the changes are infrastructural objects and the meaning behind them, and the conception of most of the scenes is deliberately made absurd, because instead of taking the counterpart of today's pop culture, absurd images without a lot of logic are used, because this is the real fragmented thinking of people with ADHD who have been influenced by pop culture.
Neuronal lesions, orbs represent a kind of poxification, as people with ADHD have a more pronounced reaction to external stress and can only imagine a world of bliss or a space for themselves.
In a relaxed and comfortable environment, the brain seems to open and reverse, with agile and spontaneous movement. It is in the shape of a lotus leaf and is receiving novel knowledge and information in a calm state at this time.
The ADHD brain develops protective mechanisms when it receives external stress. At this time the brain is in a state of arousal, contracting in a petal-like fashion for protection, unrelated to emotions.
In the ADHD brain, amnesia and distortion gradually develop in response to information overload. Due to the prolongation of time, information that is known or seen is automatically changed. Information is mirrored in fragments, flashbacks and retrospective, but not recovered.
The brain is being reshaped by the amount of information in the entertainment media and the fragmentation of time and thinking, which may change some old ideas and rethink them.
creation of discarded emojis to correspond to the once popular ones that people have come to dislike at the moment.
In this age of rapid change, a strain will lose favour when it is repeated too many times in a large number of outputs.
There is a huddled human figure lying on the infrastructure of my neuron, the building on the infrastructure is just a wreck, welcome to the broken world. Maybe as a person with ADHD myself, I am also exporting pop culture all the time, but I believe there is another tired and exhausted version of myself lying on my neuron, I emulate and embrace pop culture to feel safe, when I look down, it becomes a kind of landscape.
The rabbit in this case represents not being able to understand bird language and not wanting to get into pop culture/stems anymore. The brain's reception is ageing. The rabbit here also stands for putting up with these lame terriers because of my personal experience. Where did I see rabbits growing up? Roadside cages vs. labs and dinner tables.
Lots of tombstones here, a generation of pop culture/stems. Here is a memory retention belonging to a possibly small number of patients, meaning that no one else has heard of it. Or it may represent accounts that have been logged off/are no longer updated, or posts that were no longer turned up a decade or so ago.
Neurons produce protrusions and basal changes. Changes are produced in the axons of neurons, which can be understood as allergic phenomena, where the dendrites of the axons produce flowers and buds. Produces overthinking and imagination about new popular culture.
Have you ever wondered how future humans will archaeologise the present us?
Is it through search engines?
I remember that at first I didn't know what YYDS meant in Chinese, then I went to Baidu, will future people do the same?
And why is the explanation in the search engine absolutely official and absolutely correct? And is official representative of how everyone feels today?
Can I have an ego exuberance? Can I have an expression of individuality?
So I made a lie to offer to the future.
